Odd Language #32: The Right Sense of Wrong?

‘”Your nephew has a real gift for sensing things wrong. …”‘ — Mercedes Lackey, “Burning Water”, p. 69, ISBN: 9-812-52485-3. This book was a very good read.

The issue: Is it sensing things that are wrong or getting it wrong when sensing? It is the former.

Ha, without context, I actually read it as the former: “Your nephew has a real gift for sensing things [incorrectly].”
